Kraft Greeting Cards

Important Artwork Notice!

If you have CMYK images on your kraft product, when printing only 4-color, (ie: 4/0, or 4/4), colors will appear different to when printed on a white paper. CMYK images cannot be printed "true to color" on kraft cardstock without using a 5th Color White as a backer to your CMYK images(s). If you are color critical, please make sure to select Optional White Ink (ie: 5/0, or 5/5 if your job has double sided printing).

In addition, if you do not use a 5th Color White, elements in your design that are white will be blank (hence show the brown paper). The paper stock will affect the way that colors appear due to the slightly translucent quality of the ink (you will see the brown paper through the ink, especially in lighter shades). Colors in the orange, yellow, brown spectrum will tend to not be visible as the brown color of the paper will not contrast enough with the ink. This occurs with light and pastel colors as well. Send a Card That Already Looks Handmade

Swap the usual bright white cover for a warm, recycled brown that reads personal before you print a single word. Kraft greeting cards start at $193.15 for a set of 100, rated 4.6 out of 5 across 5 reviews. The stock is flecked, natural, and matte, the kind of paper people connect with something made by hand rather than run off a machine. Sending holiday cards, writing thank-you notes, or mailing rustic wedding invitations, the kraft face does half the work of feeling thoughtful.

These cards punch above a plain white card in exactly one way that matters: they look considered. The folded 5" x 7" shape slides into a standard A7 envelope, the inside stays blank for a written message, and the recycled board signals natural and eco to anyone who opens it. The price rewards a bigger run. A set of 100 starts at $193.15, and the per-card cost keeps sliding as the count climbs to 1,000, so a full holiday mailing costs far less per card than a small test batch. What Is a Kraft Greeting Card?

A kraft greeting card is a folded card printed on natural brown recycled paperboard instead of white stock. At 4OVER4 it prints on 18pt Kraft Uncoated Cover made from 100% post-consumer waste, ships flat at 10" x 7", and is scored to fold to a finished 5" x 7" card with a blank interior to write in. People reach for kraft when a plain card would feel generic: holiday cards, handwritten thank-you notes, wedding and shower invitations, and brand mailers that want to signal recycled and natural. If you want the full white-cover format instead, the standard Greeting Cards cover that, and the kraft sits right beside it as the warmer, earthier version.

What Size Are Kraft Greeting Cards?

There is one size here, and it is the classic one. The sheet prints flat at 10" x 7", then folds along a pressed score line to a finished 5" x 7" card that stands on a shelf or slides into a standard A7 envelope. Scoring matters on a stock this thick: a plain crease would crack the fiber and show a white line down the fold, so every card is scored first, which keeps the fold clean and the kraft surface intact. You get a front panel, a back, and a blank inside. All the details, both proof paths and the turnaround options are grouped below exactly the way the live configurator presents them, so you know what you can change before you change it.

Here are a few easy ways to make a kraft card pull its weight.

Add white ink so light colors survive the brown

Standard CMYK inks let the kraft tone show through and darken, which is why the 5/0 setup adds an opaque white layer under the color. A pale logo, thin lettering, or a light illustration reads bright and crisp instead of muddy. If your art is all dark tones, 4/0 full color on the front alone is plenty; if you want the design on both faces, 4/4 runs full color front and back.

Design it without a designer

You do not need a design background to make a kraft card look sharp. Start from a professionally built layout in our greeting card design templates, then change the colors, copy and artwork in the online editor in minutes. Keep it simple, since a bold, clean idea is exactly what reads best on a natural brown surface.

Already have your artwork? Skip the editor and download a press-ready blank instead. The kraft greeting card blank template is built at the real flat size with the fold, bleed and safe margin already drawn in, so your design never crowds the score or the cut. Drop your art in and upload.

What Stock Are Kraft Greeting Cards Printed On?

Every card runs on a single stock, chosen because it is the whole point of a kraft card: 18pt Kraft Uncoated Cover, made from 100 percent post-consumer recycled fiber. It is thick and substantial, close to a heavy business-card weight, so the folded card feels solid in a hand rather than flimsy. Because it is uncoated, the surface takes a pen or marker cleanly, which is exactly what you want on the inside of a card people write in. And because it is fully recycled brown board, it is the greener choice for anyone who cares what the paper is made of. There is no gloss or coating to pick here, and that is deliberate, since the raw kraft face is the look you came for.

Can You Print Color and White Ink on Kraft?

Yes, and the ink choice is where a kraft card is won or lost. There are four ink setups. Choose 4/0 to print full color (CMYK) on the front and leave the back blank, or 4/4 to run full color on both sides. The setup that makes kraft sing is 5/0: it adds white ink, laying an opaque white base so a logo, light lettering or a pale illustration reads bright against the brown instead of sinking into it. When you send your file you also pick a proof path, either Straight To Production to move fast or a Free Online Proof to check your art before it prints. Pair the right ink with the blank interior and a folded 5" x 7" card starts feeling made for one person.

How Do Kraft Greeting Cards Compare to the Rest of the Range?

Kraft is the warm, recycled pick when you want a card that reads handmade, but it is not your only move. If you are weighing a shinier finish or a metallic face, it helps to see the trade-off in plain numbers. The chart below lines up kraft greeting cards against their closest siblings, like the standard Holographic Greeting Cards and Metallic Greeting Cards, so you can compare the starting price on each before you choose.

How Fast Can You Get Kraft Greeting Cards?

Kraft greeting cards print on a 5 business day standard turnaround, and when a date sneaks up you can move that to a 2 business day rush. The faster speed buys back time for a set amount on top of the base price, so you only pay for speed when you actually need it. Compare both turnaround tiers below and see exactly what the rush adds before you pick.
