Holographic plastic cards are built at bank card thickness with a rainbow shimmer, so each one drops straight into a wallet slot, a card reader or a badge holder and flexes back like the card already in your pocket. The shimmer is half of it; the other half is the hardware that makes the card work at a till, a door or a scanner.

What Are Holographic Plastic Cards

Holographic plastic cards are durable PVC cards for the jobs a paper card would wear out on: VIP and loyalty cards, membership cards, event passes and ID badges. What can you use a holographic card for

• Membership and loyalty cards. A barcode plus sequential numbering gives every member a card the scanner can read and the system can match to one account.
• VIP and event passes. A punched lanyard slot puts the card on a badge, and the shimmer reads at a door from a distance.
• Gift and prepaid cards. A magnetic stripe and a signature panel turn the card into a working balance card at the till.
• Collectible cards. The rainbow shift is what collectors mean by a chase card, and 30mil PVC with rounded corners stands up to handling and sleeving.

What Finishes and Ink Options Can You Choose

UV Gloss gives a hard, shiny coat that makes the rainbow flash on a card in a rack. Silk Laminated Matte gives a smooth, low-glare surface that takes a signature or a stamp, which suits membership cards. Print 4/0 to leave the back blank for a signature panel, or 4/4 so the back can carry terms, a barcode or a second design.

What Card Features Can You Add

Each option adds a job the card can do, and you pay only for the ones you turn on.

Encode it with a magnetic stripe

A LoCo or HiCo magnetic stripe lets the card swipe through gift, loyalty or door-access readers. Choose the coercivity your reader expects, since the two are not interchangeable: LoCo suits high-turnover promo cards, HiCo suits cards people carry and swipe for years. A signature panel adds a white strip on the back that members sign.

Number every card differently

Barcoding in Code 128, Code 39, UPC-A or EAN-13, or sequential variable data, gives each card its own number or code: a numbered gym membership, a unique loyalty code, a scannable check-in badge. Embossed numbering raises the digits like a classic credit card, at 14pt or 18pt, plain or tipped in gold or silver.

Finish it for the job

For prepaid and promo runs, a scratch-off panel hides a PIN. Foil stamping puts a metallic accent on the front or back. A punched lanyard slot on the short or long edge makes the same card an event or ID badge.

Design it without a designer

Start from a layout in our business card design templates, then change the colors, copy and logo in the online editor. Keep the stripe and signature zones on the back clear of artwork.
