Question
Can I get an exact color match when I order prints?
Answer
An exact color match cannot be guaranteed in commercial printing. Presses, inks, and materials all vary, so the same file can look slightly different from one run or substrate to another.
- Printing uses a full-color CMYK process, which cannot reproduce every on-screen RGB color exactly.
- Uncoated stocks absorb more ink and look softer than coated stocks.
- Reference a Pantone number for a critical brand color so the printer can aim as close as possible.
To get the most predictable result, build your artwork in CMYK, avoid relying on screen appearance, and request a proof for color-critical jobs.
