Print a Card That Sells Off the Rack
A rack card sits in a display at a hotel desk, a visitor center, a real estate office or a trade show booth, and people read the top of it before they pick it up. A tour, a property listing, a takeout menu or a service list all fit on one card.
A rack card holds more than a business card and stands up in a display without folding. The metallic version is on rack cards printing.
For a display program that refills racks all season, look past the first step. A run of 100 costs $60.42 and 200 cost $62.40, less than two dollars more for twice the cards, and the price per card keeps falling from there. The tiers below show each set total and its price per card.
What Are Rack Cards
Rack cards are tall, narrow cards printed full color on one or both sides. Use one when a business card is too small and a brochure is more than you need, such as an event program or a service menu. For a folded piece, see Brochures, and for a flat single sheet, Flyers.
What Size Should a Rack Card Be
Choose the size by the rack it goes in. The 4" x 9" is the standard rack card size: it fits a standard literature rack and gives you a full panel for photos, a map or a short list of services. The 3.5" x 8.5" is slimmer, for a display or a mailer that needs the narrower card. The specs panel lists the stocks, the corner choices, the variable data switch and the envelope option. For a size between the two, set a custom size and the price follows it.
Three choices decide how a rack card holds up in a display.
Pick a stock that feels like more
A heavier coated stock makes a rack card stand straighter in a display. The default 14pt Gloss Cover is the low cost choice, 100# Silk/Matte Cover suits photos, 16pt soft touch has a velvet feel, and 15pt Synthetic Plastic gives you a card made of plastic rather than paper. For a card that catches the light, Metallic Rack Cards run the same format on a metallic stock.
Round the corners and print both sides
Use both panels. With 4/4 ink the display side sells and the back carries a map, a price list or a QR code. Rounded corners come at a 1/8 inch or 3/8 inch radius, and a High Gloss UV Coating brings out a photo or a bold color on the top surface.
Design it without a designer
Put the headline at the top, since that part shows above the rack slot, and the detail below it. Our rack card design templates start from that layout; change the colors, copy and logo in the online editor.
For art built in your own software, each blank rack card template comes in both sizes with the 1/8" bleed and safe margin marked, so nothing you need sits in the cut.
Wally stands your card up in the rack
Why a $42.84 stack of tall cards gets picked up, not passed by.

Fifty rack cards cost $42.84, and the tall 4 by 9 inch shape is built to sit in a display and get grabbed. Use them for tours, listings, menus, or service lists. Pick a stock, set your speed, and Wally gets them printed fast.
How Much Do Rack Cards Cost
At 200 cards each rack card works out to about 31 cents, and the price per card keeps falling all the way to 100,000. The panel below lists the first six runs, from 50 to 500, with the price of each card.
Can You Print a Name or Code on Each Card
Yes. Switch on variable data and each card in the run gets its own name, listing number or code. A real estate office can number every property card, a hotel can print a booking card per guest, and a coupon run can carry a different code on each card. Add full color on both sides and matching White #9 envelopes, and the rack card also goes out as a mailer.
How Do Rack Cards Compare to the Rest of the Range
Rack cards give you display presence without the folding cost of a brochure. The category has two styles, and the panel below shows this one as both the lowest entry price and the most reviewed, set beside Metallic Rack Cards.
