What Are Holographic Postcards

Holographic postcards are full-color postcards with an iridescent finish, for product launches, grand openings, event invitations, save-the-dates, holiday greetings and promotions with a code. A 3D lenticular postcard is a different product, a ridged plastic lens that flips the picture; this card keeps the artwork flat and readable while the color moves. What Size Should a Holographic Postcard Be

A 4" x 6" is the classic mailer, cheap to send and easy to hold. Step up to 5" x 7" or 6" x 9" when a promotion needs room for an image and an offer, go 8.5" x 11" for a full-page announcement, or use the 11" x 17" when you want the finish to fill a wall-sized card a band or a gallery can pin up. A custom size can sit anywhere between 4" x 6" and 11" x 17". Check postal rules before you commit to an oversized mailer.

What Stocks and Finishes Can You Choose

The 16pt Gloss Laminated stock throws a bright shine that plays into the shimmer. The 16pt Silk Laminated reads as a smooth satin, calmer but still premium, and the 16pt Velvet Laminated is soft and low-glare, so the rainbow shows without a hard reflection. Lamination comes included, and ink runs 4/0 for a printed front with a blank back, or 4/4 for full color on both sides.

Add foil, spot UV or embossing

Shape it with die cutting and corners

Design Tips for Holographic Postcards

• Leave room for the shimmer. Heavy full bleed ink makes the card read like a normal printed postcard, so keep part of the design light.
• Plan the tilt. The effect shows when the card moves, so put the key area where a thumb holds it.
• Mark every add-on. Show where the foil sits, which element gets spot UV or embossing, and the die cut outline if the card is not a rectangle.

Can You Print a Name or Code on Each Postcard

Yes. Variable data prints a unique name, serial number or code on each postcard. A product drop can give every card its own claim code, a loyalty mailer can number each card, and an invitation can name its guest, with the code on the back and the front left clean.
