Question
What does it mean when my proof shows a grey line beyond the red line?
Answer
On your proof, the colored guide lines show where the product is cut and how far your artwork should extend. Here is what each one means.
| Line | What it marks | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Red line | The trim line, where the product is cut | Keep important text and logos inside it |
| Grey line | The bleed area, extending beyond the trim | Extend backgrounds and full-bleed artwork out to it |
Your file is set up correctly when full-bleed art reaches the grey line while text and logos stay inside the red line. These guides are for reference and do not print on the final product.
