How do I resubmit a file and get a new proof?
Resubmitting a file to get a fresh proof is done right inside your account, and it takes just a few steps.
- Log into your account and open the order.
- Reject the existing proofs.
- Add a comment describing the changes you made.
- Upload your revised file.
A file representative reviews the updated file and generates new proofs in your account for approval. Check your email for the notification once the new proof is ready.
Rejecting a proof does not cancel the order, and you do not need a new one. The newest upload becomes the active file, so you do not need to delete earlier versions. A rep checks it and posts a new proof with no need to contact support: in minutes on auto-proofed products, otherwise in about 20 minutes or within one business day. The updated proof appears on the Proofs page of your account, and the order status changes to Online Proofs Available. The whole order needs approval again, even if only one design changed. Reproofing has no extra charge, and you can repeat the cycle until the proof is right.
- Use the Reject Proofs button and be specific in the comment: exact text, colors and placement, plus anything the proof cannot show, such as scoring positions or fold lines.
- Upload a print-ready PDF in CMYK with a 0.125" bleed, not a PNG or other image file. If sizing, bleed or the safe area is off, rebuild the design from the product template.
- If the proof shows the wrong specifications, such as the size, the number of sides, the corners or the fold, do not approve it. Contact support with your order number, and the team corrects the setup and posts a revised proof.
- If you want the art team to edit the design for you, describe the change in the comment; design edits may cost extra, quoted first.
- If the upload button is missing or the file is over 150MB, email support@4over4.com with your account email and order number (a WeTransfer, Dropbox or Google Drive link works for large files), and the team posts the file for you.
- With Straight To Production, the job goes to print once it passes file review, without a proof approval. If you chose a proof, nothing prints until you approve it, and then you approve the order to send it to print.
