Instead of one fixed stock, you build the label: pick the material, set the dimensions, choose 1/0 black or 4/0 full color, and the price updates with each choice. Woven vs printed fabric labels

Two different products answer to the same search, and they are made on different machines. A woven label is made on a loom, where the text and the logo are threads in the cloth. A printed label is artwork printed onto a face material and applied to the item or its packaging. 4OVER4 prints labels, it does not weave them, so if you need a sewn-in loom woven tag for the inside collar of a garment, this is not that product.

What Materials and Finishes Can You Choose

4OVER4 offers 23 materials for fabric labels, from uncoated, semi-gloss and hi-gloss UV to white vinyl in permanent or repositionable, clear and white cling, clear permanent, brown kraft, plus fluorescent and pastel color stocks. Ink prints 1/0 black only or 4/0 full color on the front.

Uncoated keeps a label matte and writable. Semi-gloss and hi-gloss UV push color forward. White vinyl, permanent or repositionable, takes moisture and handling. Clear cling and clear permanent give a no-label look on glass and bottles, white cling sticks clean, and brown kraft reads recycled and natural. Care, washing and wear

The face material decides how the label survives handling, and the 23 options split cleanly on that question.

• Hi-gloss UV and semi-gloss. The coating sits over the ink, so the face wipes clean and shrugs off fingerprints and light kitchen splash. This is the one for a jar or bottle that gets handled.
• White vinyl, clear permanent and cling. The plastic face does not soften when it gets wet, which is why it is the choice for anything chilled, condensating or wiped down. Cling repositions, clear permanent does not.
• Uncoated, brown kraft, fluorescent and pastel. Paper faces. They take pen and stamp ink well, and they mark and darken if they get damp, so keep them on dry goods, cartons and tags.

The adhesive holds on clean, dry, smooth surfaces. Glass, coated card, plastic and metal all take it. Give it a few hours to reach full grip before the item is shipped or chilled, and expect less from a dusty, oily, textured or freshly cleaned surface, since the label can only hold as well as the layer it is stuck to. Nothing here is a machine wash product: if the item goes in a washing machine, the label belongs on the packaging rather than on the garment.
