Question

If I see rendering artifacts or lines in my digital proof, will they print on my final order?

Answer

Digital proofs sometimes show rendering artifacts, such as faint lines or boxes, that are not in your original PDF. These are almost always a quirk of how the proof is generated on screen and will not appear on your final printed product.

  • Where they come from: the proof viewer renders your art into an image, and that process can introduce lines your source file does not contain.
  • Whether they print: if the marks are not in your actual file, they will not print.
  • If you want it confirmed: reject the proof and add a comment describing exactly what you are seeing, and a file rep will review it and confirm.

When in doubt, it is always fine to ask before approving rather than guess.
