Question

What finish options are available for flyers?

Answer

Finish changes both the look and the feel of your flyer, so it is worth matching the coating to your goal. The exact options depend on the flyer product, but most fall into three families.

FinishLook and feelBest for
Glossy UVVivid, high-shine, saturated colorFood, events, retail, bold photos
MatteSmooth, low-glare, understatedProfessional and luxury branding
UncoatedNatural, writable paper surfaceCoupons, forms, a handmade feel
  • Glossy UV makes colors pop but can show fingerprints.
  • Matte reads as premium and is easy on the eyes under bright light.
  • Uncoated is the only finish you can reliably write on with a pen.

If the flyer is going in a mailbox or handed out at an event, a coated finish usually holds up better against handling.
